2016 – 2017 New Certified Mail® Rate Update:

The U.S. Postal Service announced an increase in postal rates that were approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission. The new rates began Sunday, January 22, 2017, at 12:01 AM.

The cost to send a 1-ounce USPS Certified Mail® letter with Return Receipt (Green Card) will be $6.56. If you use Electronic Delivery Confirmation, the cost can be reduced to $4.61. Additional options such as Return Receipt Electronic Signature in PDF format USPS has increased costs to $1.45.  The discounted metered price for 1 oz. of First Class  postage will be $0.46.  If you purchase stamps from USPS, the price is slightly higher $0.49.

In summary, by using automation and replacing those old fashioned USPS Certified Mail green card forms and stickers can save you $1.90 per mailing.

On Sunday, January 22, 2017, the U. S. Postal Service will implement a rate increase for shipping and mail classes. The new rates take effect at 12:01 a.m. on January 22, 2017.

USPS Certified Mail rates will increase to $3.35 per letter.  The cost of using the old fashioned green cards with the traditional U.S. Postal Service Return Receipt service (PS Form 3811) increases to $2.75 per mailing. The cost of using the Return Receipt Signature Electronic increases to $1.45 per mailing.

You can save money by using Certified Mail® Labels with Electronic Delivery Confirmation.  This provides proof of mailing, in route letter tracking and final evidence of USPS delivery information authored by the U.S. Postal Service.  This report also works for compliance reporting.  It provides evidence of mailing timely, proof that postage and fees were properly paid, in-route letter tracking and the final USPS proof of delivery.  This report is used for compliance mailings to IRS Certified Mail, financial services, healthcare, property management, asset recovery, collection and other critical forms of notification.

Restricted Delivery Signature Service decreased to $4.95

USPS Certified Mail® Return Receipt Requested service can only be purchased at the time of mailing. USPS has discontinued the Return Receipt After Mailing product. The old-fashioned green card Return Receipt Signature cost $2.75 and the Return Receipt Signature (Electronic) that shows who signed for the letter, the date and time of delivery and the addressee’s address cost $1.45.
