Address Verification and Address Standardization  -  What Does It Do?

When you create a Certified Mail Label, your delivery address is checked against the official United States Postal Service Address Database. This helps speed up letter delivery by verifying that the address you are sending your letter to is a valid, deliverable location. If you check the box to "turn off address verification," this will bypass that process.

The only time you may want to turn off this feature is when you are sending mail to the Internal Revenue Service or Department of the Treasury. This is because they use a non-standard mailing address.
